MoreYoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual discipline, originating in ancient India. It is a system of exercises practiced as part of the Yoga discipline to promote control of body and mind. The ultimate goal of Yoga, or of the person practicing Yoga, is the attainment of a state of perfect spiritual insight and tranquillity while meditating on the Hindu concept of divinity or Brahman. Having said that, the goals of Yoga are varied and range from improving health to achieving moksha which is liberation from all worldly suffering and the cycle of birth and death (samsara), at which point there is a realization of identity with the Supreme Brahman. Many individuals in the West use Yoga practice as a means of improving health and reducing stress without reference to the spiritual dimension and, as such, it is widely available for all age groups.
